Project Honda Boost Up Program — ServiHonda Barcelona | Alex Mingo

When Honda Motor Europe Iberia, through Training Coordinator Jordi Cano, commissioned us to document Alex Mingo‘s story for the Boost Up Program, the challenge was clear: tell a human story within a technical environment, with the authenticity the format demands and the visual quality Honda requires.

Alex Mingo is Workshop Manager at Servihonda Barcelona and the only Workshop Manager selected from the entire Honda Motorcycles dealer network in Spain. A solid technical profile with a story worth telling properly.

Two days of shooting, two different worlds

The project was structured across two shooting days with distinct objectives. The first day was dedicated entirely to action: interior workshop scenes, detail shots of equipment, real working sequences with the full collaboration of the Servihonda team. The staff were essential to the production — we coordinated with them to manage silence during interview moments and to integrate them as part of the ambient scenes.

The second day focused on the interior of the dealership and the interview sequences, where Alex speaks directly to camera in his own voice, with no voice-over narration. A deliberate decision: we wanted him to tell his own story, in his own words and at his own pace.

Equipment and technical approach

The production was shot on a Canon R5 Mark II as the primary camera, giving us the image quality and flexibility needed to work across both controlled interview environments and the unpredictable dynamics of a working workshop.

For exterior work we incorporated an Insta360 X5, used in two ways: mounted directly on the motorcycle for first-person riding shots, and on an extension stick to simulate drone footage outside the dealership. A practical solution that delivered fluid, cinematic aerial and movement shots without the need for a drone operator.

Lighting was one of the most carefully considered aspects of the shoot. A motorcycle workshop is a challenging environment — mixed light sources, hard shadows and high-contrast zones that don’t always favour the image. We used additional specialised lighting to balance the scene, soften contrasts and maintain visual consistency between the action shots and the interview sequences.

The Result

A 2 minute 50 second corporate video that blends interview and action seamlessly, with Alex’s own voice carrying the narrative while the workshop footage builds the visual context. No voice-over, no external narrator. Just a professional telling his story from the place where he works every day.
